Principals

Bob Smith

Bob S. Smith, Principal

Bob is a co-founder of Bridgepoint Consulting. His expertise ranges from Sarbanes-Oxley to strategic financial consulting for high-growth companies. Bob’s prior experience includes 25 years with the Big Four accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. While with PwC, he served as an audit partner and became the managing partner of the Austin office in 1995.

Throughout his career, his clients and experience have ranged from early-stage start-ups to multinational companies where he was responsible for overseeing a number of IPOs. Subsequent to his years in public accounting, Bob served as CFO of several early-stage technology companies. Bob holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas Tech University and he is a Certified Public Accountant* in Texas.

Bill Patterson

Bill Patterson, CTP, CIRA, Principal

Bill has 25 years of financial experience – ten years with Big Four firms plus experience as the CFO of early-stage and mid-market companies. He has extensive transaction experience, particularly around bankruptcy and turnaround situations. Bill also has extensive organization and corporate governance and risk expertise. He has led companies through Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and risk abatement. During his career, he has managed and overseen corporate operations, vendors and consulting projects in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and the Pacific Rim. He was awarded the Certified Insolvency and Reorganization Advisor (CIRA) designation in 1992; the Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP) distinction in 2009 and is a Certified Public Accountant* in the State of Texas. Bill received his bachelor’s degree from Baylor University. Currently, he serves on the Board and is a former president of the Turnaround Management Association, Central Texas chapter and has served on the Board of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas and the Colorado River Foundation.  

Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson, Principal

Michael has 25 years of experience in complex integrated business solutions. Prior to joining Bridgepoint Consulting, he served as managing director at KPMG Consulting, working with a range of private and public sector organizations. He oversaw the planning, design and implementation of business solutions for human resources, finance and case management. Since joining Bridgepoint Consulting, Michael has developed a leading edge IT consulting practice focused on helping organizations transform their operations leveraging technology.  The practice specializes in ERP system selection and implementation, IT security, business process redesign and IT strategy.  Michael is very active in the technology community including speaking at multiple events, judging the Global  Venture Labs Investment Competition, participating in the Austin Technology Council’s CIO/CTO Roundtable and serving on the Austin Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) Executive Steering Committee. Michael has a Bachelor of Arts from Austin College with an emphasis in accounting and information technology.  

Manuel Azuara

Manuel Azuara, Principal

Manuel Azuara has nearly 20 years of experience in auditing, business process re-engineering and corporate governance across a broad spectrum of both public and private sector clients. During his consulting career, Manuel has helped multiple companies in times of crisis, including mergers and acquisitions, fraud investigations, exit strategie, and cash optimization. Manuel is also the former CFO of Public Strategies Inc, where he provided financial leadership and direction in all areas of the firm, including implementation of global cash management procedures during the company’s expansion into Europe and Mexico. Manuel combines business vision, communication skills, soft management skills and technical savvy with the ability to plan, coordinate and execute.  Manuel received his Accounting degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He has been a Board Member and is currently the Board Chair of Greenlights for Nonprofit Success and is a former National Board Member for the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA). He has also participated in the Junior Achievement Program and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program throughout Central Texas.

Liz Harder

Liz Harder, Principal

As a principal at Bridgepoint Consulting, Liz leads the overall strategy and operations for the firm's recruiting practice. She is also the leader B360 Solutions, a temporary staffing firm that is a strategic partner of Bridgepoint. Before founding Harder Consulting, Inc. in 1998, Liz worked as an Auditor for KPMG and held accounting management positions for companies in the distribution and financial services industries. Liz is the Past President of the Capital City Association of Personnel Consultants and Secretary of the Texas Association of Personnel Consultants. She is also the Past President of the Austin Chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance & Accounting. She is currently the President of the American Association of Finance & Accounting. Liz received her Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a Certified Personnel Consultant (CPC) and a Certified Public Accountant* (CPA).

Management Team

John Sorrells

John Sorrells, Managing Director, Houston

John is Managing Director for Bridgepoint Consulting's Houston office. In addition to overall practice and engagement management, his primary focus is providing Governance, Risk Management and Compliance across multiple industries including energy, manufacturing and financial services. Sorrells brings a proven track record in helping organizations address processes, risks, and controls related to financial reporting and other operational business activities. Sorrells has more than 30 years of experience in finance, operations and administration in risk management and audit across multiple industries. Most recently, he was the Managing Director of Risk & Compliance Solutions at Protiviti, a global business consulting and internal audit firm.  Prior to Protiviti, he was a partner at Arthur Andersen, and has also served as VP of the Internal Audit Division for JPMorganChase.

David Roe

David Roe, Director of Governance, Risk Management and Compliance

David has over 25 years of experience in internal audit, accounting management, and corporate governance/compliance. Prior to joining Bridgepoint Consulting, David was an Executive Director in Ernst & Young’s advisory practice serving clients across various industries and ranging from public multinational Fortune 100 to private emerging companies. He led projects covering Internal Audit implementation through outsourcing; Sarbanes-Oxley compliance; risk management; and business process/control improvement. David also served as Controller for a manufacturer/distribution company and internal auditor for a large defense contractor.

David leverages his expertise in understanding business issues, people management and technical skills to help companies achieve sustainable risk management and compliance solutions. He received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Oklahoma Christian University, is a Certified Public Accountant* in the state of Texas and is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Dawn Ragan

Dawn Ragan, Managing Director, Business Turnaround & Restructuring Services

Dawn Ragan has 20 years of experience in financial services and turnaround management. She is skilled in quickly assessing complex situations, developing effective operational and financial restructuring solutions, and managing multiple constituencies. She has experience in a number of industries, such as: Construction, Consumer Products, Entertainment, Food and Beverage, Healthcare, Hospitality and Timeshare, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Retail and Technology. Ms. Ragan’s engagements have included assets and operations in China, Japan, Europe, Australia, Argentina, Mexico, Canada and the United States. She has served in a variety of interim management positions including CFO, COO and CRO, and has provided expert witness testimony.

Previously, Ms. Ragan was a principal of a national advisory firm. She was also a senior manager and a member of the restructuring practice of a Big Four accounting firm and vice president of a Wall Street investment bank.

Ms. Ragan holds a bachelor's degree in accounting, magna cum laude, from Regis University, and an executive MBA from Southern Methodist University. She is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, Turnaround Management Association, Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors, International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation, and Texas Wall Street Women. Ms. Ragan is published on the topic of Substantive Consolidation.

Monica Gill

Monica Gill, Director of Client Services

Monica brings more than 20 years of financial and accounting experience to our team. Prior to joining Bridgepoint Consulting, Monica served as the Chief Financial Officer at Red River Service Corporation, Inc. in Dripping Springs, TX. Earlier in her career, she was the CFO at Schlotzsky’s shortly after it went public and has been in a variety of other consulting, accounting and auditing roles.

Monica’s focus is managing relationships with consultants and BPC clients to ensure complete customer satisfaction. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and is a Certified Public Accountant* in the State of Texas.

Vince Trevino

Vince Trevino, Director of Business Development

Vince brings to Bridgepoint Consulting over 17 years experience in sales and business development in the services industry. Most recently he was the lead partner for accounting & finance of an Austin startup company. Vince has served in leadership roles with two publicly traded staffing companies, bringing a track record of strong leadership and growth not just locally but also in two other major Texas markets. Vince is largely focused on the strategic business development and regional growth of Bridgepoint Consulting’s practice. Vince received a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio and serves on the membership committee for the local chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI). He is also the VP, Programs for the Central Texas Chapter of ACG and member of the Seton Forum, a professional advocacy group for  heightened awareness of the Seton Healthcare Family.

Gina Budd

Gina Budd, Director of Marketing

Gina brings more than 18 years of in-depth experience in marketing and public relations to Bridgepoint Consulting. She has provided numerous companies with marketing and communications strategies, including small businesses, large healthcare organizations, and publicly traded companies. Her past experience includes managing the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Program, leading accounts at SicolaMartin and directing marketing and branding efforts for several start-up companies in Austin. Gina graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Texas A&M University.    

Aimee Greek

Aimee Greek, Controller

Aimee brings more than 17 years of financial and accounting experience to the Bridgepoint Consulting team. As Controller, her focus is managing the internal accounting and human resources operations, control systems, transaction-processing operations, outsourced functions, as well as policies and procedures.  Prior to joining Bridgepoint  in February of 2011, Aimee served as controller and chief accountant within multiple industries including aviation, marketing and property management. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Angelo State University.
